Approach
I believe that spiritual and cultural connection is the foundation to our wellness, and that nurturing these aspects of our lives we will achieve holistic wellness. Through offering choice and collaboration you can guide and shape your experience to ensure relevance and meaning to you. I will support you to create the space for you to move towards a richer connection with your culture, spirit, and unique self through experiential options (modalities). The experiential component could look like participating in cultural ceremonies, prayer, smudging, brushing off, and cleansing, or being on the land and working with animals. My goal is to help you build your own strengths so that you feel confident to continue deepening these practices on your own. You will decide the direction we take in working together.
Shawna’s approach is eclectic but most notable approaches are narrative and attachment theory grounded in trauma informed practice. Clients are supported and encouraged to co-create sessions to include experiential components like culture, mindfulness, movement, art, or music.
